Talk about a handy little device!
Beginning in the late 90's, Porsche switched wheel mounting fasteners from lug studs and nuts to lug bolts. The change was significant as it allowed for stadardization of parts, as well as easy wheel size swaps without needing to replace lug studs.
However, the Law of Unintended Consequences reared it's ugly head, and now even the most mundane task of changing a flat tire became extremely difficult as there was nothing to hold the wheel and tire assembly while you got a lug bolt started.
Undaunted, Porsche engineers came up with this handy little "Threaded Bolt for Wheel Assembly" and put it in the tool kit. Unfortunately, they only give you one, still leaving you to wrestle with a heavy wheel and tire assembly on the side of the road.
If you have ever been in this position and thought "Why didn't they put two of those handy little threaded bolts in the tool kit?" we don't have the answer, but we do have something you can do about it.
Pick up a spare and save your back. What? You lost yours, or don't have one? Pick up a pair and marvel at how easy swapping your race tires or changing a flat can be.
